Personal Fundraising

If you are a Miracle Maker, you probably know about all of the fun events and fundraisers we put on for all of our participants. However, a majority of our fundraising comes from personal fundraising efforts– reaching out to your network or creating your own unique ways to raise funds for Dell Children’s Medical Center!

Explore some of the ways you can fundraise using the dropdown menus.

  • Fundraising begins first and foremost with an announcement about what you’re doing and why you’re doing it!

    • Create your DonorDrive and customize it to your liking

    • Connect your DonorDrive to Facebook

    • Announce to your network that you are fundraising to pay for kids’ medical care! Post to Instagram, LinkedIn, or Twitter and let your circle know about the cause.

  • Who are your donors going to be? Where can you find new donors? Some common answers are…

    • Friends

    • Family

    • Professors / mentors

    • Classmates and peers

    • Work and other organizations

When it comes to building your network, the sky is the limit. You might find donors in unexpected places!

Exercise: create a list of potential donors, contact info, and dates you want to make a fundraising ask!

  • Explore your passions while contributing to a great cause! Fundraising projects are popular among college students and combine creativity with philanthropy. Create a project alone or with friends.

    Get started with these steps:

    1. Find something you’re passionate about. Examples include baking, sewing, gaming and livestreaming, playing an instrument, or sports. The possibilities are endless!

    2. Find a way to raise funds from your passions. Bake sales, fundraising livestreams, garage sales, homemade clothing sales, pop-up shops, volleyball tournaments, ticketed concerts, and more are all ways our Miracle Makers have fundraised!

Take advantage of opportune times, like birthdays and holidays, to highlight your fundraising efforts.

    3. Prepare your fundraiser. Organization, publicity, and collaboration are all important for a successful fundraiser! You can ask members of Texas THON to assist with the logistics of your fundraiser!

    4. Host your fundraiser and enjoy! Make sure to take photos and thank the people that attended your fundraiser. If your fundraiser was a success, consider saving your resources and doing it again!

  • Canning is where Miracle Makers stand at popular intersections in Austin with buckets and signs, trying to elicit donations from cars stopped at the intersection or pedestrians walking by. Cannings are a great and easy way to fundraise in a matter of a few hours, either solo or as a group! Canning also gives you the opportunity to fundraise outside of your network.

The most important thing about canning is a positive attitude and kindness! Remember, anyone can be a donor!
